Summary of Position:

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Kern County is looking for a Religious Exploration (RE) Coordinator for their RE program (Sunday School). The ideal candidate will have previous teaching experience, enjoy working with children between the ages of 4 and 11, and be comfortable with the UU values (FMI: https://www.uua.org/beliefs). Class size is 1-3 children, if there are children present.

If offered the position, the candidate will complete a background check and Safe Gatherings training program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

9:45-noon Sunday mornings

• Teach religious education for children on four Sundays a month (from 9:45am to noon)

• Facilitate religious education for teens on four Sundays a month at a time that is convenient for the teens.

On Sundays when there are no children present, plan and implement virtual outreach.

Weekly:

• Coordinate lesson planning for children from material and curriculum available on the Tapestry of Faith web site.

• Coordinate religious exploration for teens. This may include material and curriculum available on the UUA website

• Communicate with the Communication Committee chair or designee to update our social media and website about upcoming lesson plans, pictures, announcements, and other information that is relevant to our UU Faith and our program.

• Collaborate with congregation on other educational opportunities.

Expected hours per week: Between 2.25 and 6 hours
