For month of July

July 25 – Our speaker will be Dr. Steve Campagna-Pinto who will present a talk
entitled “William James’s Strenuous Mood and the Environmental Crisis.” The
American philosopher William James argued that religious experience provides the
strenuous mood necessary for fighting the moral equivalent of war against social in-
justice. Taking a cue from James, Dr. Steve Campangna-Pinto, Professor of Reli-
gious Studies at CSU, Bakersfield will examine the role that religious experience can
play in addressing the global environmental crisis.
